You can add lots of your own content to the newsroom, but there is some text that already forms part of the site structure.
Whether you're looking to change the tone of voice in your newsroom and match it more closely to your brand identity, or whether you're adding a new language and want some translation tweaks, with our text overrides feature you can change almost all of the copy in your newsroom, and right from the dashboard. Now you can make all your changes, in any language, and with immediate effect.
Why use text overrides?
Translations. Each language in the platform already has a basic translation, but now you can personalise and change the translated text at will.
ToV. Match your brand's tone of voice to the newsroom copy for a seamless user experience.
Quick changes. Maybe instead of 'Media Kits', you'd prefer 'Assets'.
SEO and meta. We've even included some meta fields so you can really control how your newsroom is found in the SERPs.
How to add text overrides
Identify the copy you want to change in the newsroom. Let's say we want to change the word 'events'.
2. Head to the dashboard > Newsroom Settings > Content Localization.
3. Make sure you've selected the correct language.
4. In the Text Overrides section, locate the copy you want to change. Remember, there might be multiple entries you need to change.
4. Add your text on the right hand side and save!
Troubleshooting
I can't find the right copy
If you can't find the right copy in the dashboard, it could be for a number of reasons:
The copy is in a different section. Check the other sections as some words and phrases appear in multiple places.
You have a custom build or custom content. If we've built anything just for you, then any copy in that section will not appear in the dashboard.
We removed some sections on purpose for security reasons.
Whatever the reason, if you're unable to find what you're looking for, simply email us at hello@pr.co or write to us via the live chat.
What about the funky characters?
If you see an entry that has a piece of text like these, simply keep it the same when you add your new text.
For example:
β
'Log in to access %{brand_name}' might become 'Access the %{brand_name} newsroom here'.
Can everyone in my team edit the newsroom copy?
Only admins can access this part of the dashboard, to limit the number of users that could be changing visible newsroom copy. If you're not an admin, you can request access from any of the admins on your account.
Some words are listed twice
Yes. You'll see that some words appear in multiple places. This is to reflect each of the places in the newsroom where that word or phrase appears. So before you finish, double check you've changed all of the available options to your liking.
